Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Course description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Total structured delivery and assessment: 20 hours (structured self-study 12 hrs, face-to-face training 2 hrs, face-to-face assessment 6 hrs).
Mode of study
The course is delivered face-to-face and includes:
- Structured self-study (review of Student Pack) — approx. 12 hours
- Structured face-to-face training — 2 hours
- Face-to-face assessment — 6 hours
- Simulated workplace environment with first aid equipment
Amount of training
Progress and monitoring occur throughout the program, with sufficient time allocated for students to complete required tasks and gain a full understanding of expectations. Students refreshing skills may require less than 12 hours to review the Student Pack.

Entry requirements
Learners must meet the following entry requirements to be admitted to this training product:
- Aged 18 years or older at the time of enrolment
- LLN skills demonstration at ACSF Level 2 (Learning, Reading, Writing, Oral communication, Numeracy)
- Access to and ability to use a computer and the Internet

Education pathways
Students who successfully complete this course may pathway into HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid or other relevant courses in first aid and life support.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) / Course credit
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available. AVC's process is structured to minimise time and cost, with a supportive approach for learners. You should apply ideally at enrolment, and up to 2 weeks into your course.

AVC will accept and mutually recognise qualifications and Statements of Attainment awarded by any other Registered Training Organisation, unless precluded by licensing requirements.
